Being around kids a lot I come in contact with a crazy amount of germs. My immune system is pretty good when it comes to the common cold, but when it hits, it hits hard. I used to struggle finding a way to get healthy quick! It never seemed to work until I was introduced to a few (AMAZING) things to help!
First things first is hydration! Oh man I have no appetite or thirst when I am sick, so I have to force myself to drink down water, but it really helps. Besides water I also LOVE Throat Coat tea. It is something that was introduced to me during theatre school. It really helps soothe my sore throat but I always find tea dries my throat out. I started putting coconut oil in my tea (BLESS COCONUT OIL AND YOUR AMAZING QUALITIES), and it now both soothes and doesn’t try my throat out. It’s amazing!
Speaking of coconut oil, a friend introduced me to oil pulling and at first I was a little reluctant but now I’m hooked! Basically all you do is put a tsp-tbsp (I use about 1/2 tbsp) of coconut oil in your mouth. Then you swish it around in your mouth for 20 min if you can (I know, it’s a long time, but I usually am swishing while I shower and get ready). Then after the time is up, make sure you spit into the garbage or it will clog your sink! This honestly decreased my illness to 1-3 days rather than 1-2 weeks. I swear by it.
Of course vitamins are also essential! And don’t forget a good book and a warm cuddle buddy!
Make sure you don’t take anything if you have allergies or if your physician doesn’t recommend it. This is just what helps me! Stay healthy, friends 🙂
