I was fortunate enough to get to go down to Orlando for 2 weeks to indulge in the Fringe Festival that has been happening there now for 25 years! I will talk more about the fringe in a later post because it deserves its own recognition! Orlando is great in general. It is such a beautiful place to go and the people are SO friendly. Did I say that they are friendly? Because they are friendly!!! We were welcomed so graciously and I will be forever thankful. The thing with Orlando is that you have to drive EVERYWHERE. The city was not designed for walking (and in that heat I am not surprised). We rented a couple cars and managed to get out and about quite a bit when we weren’t fringing. We made some trips to the parks and down to New Smyrna Beach. We were recommended this beach over Cocoa Beach (which we did last year) mainly because it is where the locals go. We stopped first for food at Chases on The Beach. It was really tasty and the drinks were so perfect for a day at the beach. I had a Piña Colada which I haven’t had in YEARS. Yum. We luckily were able to get in some beach time before a huge storm hit and the beach was evacuated. (We had good luck with storms this trip). Luckily we had access to a pool and a beach volleyball quart near our house so we spent a great deal of time there. It was nice to just hang out pool side and play volleyball and frisbee with good friends. Here are a few poolside pictures. Stay tuned for my post on the Orlando Fringe as well as a little video of our trip!
