This week felt very long! I have to admit I struggled a bit to keep my head above water this week. Sometimes we can easily let ourselves fall back into old routine and I think that is what happened to me. I did manage to limit my time on social media and spent more time doing things I love like read, play board games, and practice piano. When I feel low though I often find myself complaining and dumping it all on to Joel. I know he is there to love and support me, but it is unfair of me to expect him to fix my problems and make me feel better. That has to come from me and my actions. This week’s challenge comes from Gretchen Rubin’s book “The Happiness Project” where she set out each month to focus on certain things (much like we are doing here). I want to try out other people’s challenges and share them with you incase these (far more experienced) people can help you too! Gretchen Rubin made it her goal to “bring up [her] worries if [she] really need Jamie’s (her husband) counsel or support, but [she] wouldn’t dump [her] minor troubles on him.” (If you want to read more it’s on pg. 54 of The Happiness Project)
Week 3 Challenge!
Challenge: Your challenge this week is to take a deep breath when something frustrates or angers you and instead of releasing that on your partner or your friend, analyze the situation and see if it is worth the irritation. Try to deal with these small situations in a mature and calm matter rather than venting about them and turning them into bigger beasts than they already were.
Happy Action: Spend the 30 minutes before you go to bed doing something other than sitting in front of a screen!
Weekly Inspiration: “Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content.” -Helen Keller
