How was your week? I feel a lot more energized after last week! I was able to sneak it a bit more time just for myself and took a bit of pressure off my schedule by making sure I don’t schedule anything at certain times. It really felt like a huge weight off my shoulders. Even though I felt like I had success from last week, I still felt like it was one of the hardest weeks for me to keep my happy self about water. I struggled a great deal with purpose this week which is something that likes to creep up and haunt me from time to time. It is an exhausting battle with myself to be able to look at my life and see if it is headed anywhere. I know a LOT of people I know have this struggle as well. Is it just the curse of being in your mid-twenties? Someone tell me it gets better! This week I want to look for a way to take a deep breath and focus in on the present and attempt to not get anxious over where it is taking me! Finding the balance between enjoying your life now, and preparing for your future is a hard one to find. Hopefully this week brings us a little closer!
Week 8 Challenge!
Focus On The Small And The Now
Challenge: Your challenge this week is to focus on the smaller aspects of your life and how they are benefiting you now. Often times we try to make everything work for us in the future, but that is not always the case. Sometimes we need something because it benefits us purely in the moment. The butterfly effect has an amazing way of making these small aspects open up to larger ones in the future, so trust in them. This week take a look at one thing in your life that maybe you feel isn’t leading you anywhere. If you are like me and want to make lists all the time, make one of the reasons you are doing that in your life. Is it because you need the money? Is it because it is a passion? Is it because you feel obligated? Think about why this one thing is a part of your life and how it is affecting you NOW. Try to deter your focus from how it will affect you in 6 months, 5 years etc. How is it influencing your life at the present. A lot of times we can take something in our lives that is negative and only look at it that way. We begin to dread it even though there are most likely at least one or two positives coming out of the situation that are benefiting you now! For example: Maybe you have a job that you hate going to. That everyday you feel is giving you weight. Not always can we just quit something that makes us unhappy. Focus in on it. Is this job allowing you to pay your bills so you can live in a nice place? Is this job allowing you to work on your patience skills? Is this job helping you work on team building skills with people you struggle to work with? A lot of times there are factors that come up in our future that these smaller experiences prepare us for. You don’t necessarily have to focus in on something you feel is negative. Maybe there is something that brings you joy that doesn’t necessarily have any obvious benefit to your future. (For me that is equestrian!) Don’t overwhelm yourself. Focus on just one thing this week, and maybe try a new one next week. Make sure you write down the benefits of the now so that you can keep looking back and reminding yourself of why you are doing what you are doing!
