Local Eats: Dorinku

February 13, 2017

The other day Joel and I decided to hit up one of the newer places to eat in town called Dorinku. It specializes in Tokyo Street Food and although it’s pretty new, it is already hustling and bustling. Joel and I were lucky to get seated quickly. As soon as we ordered, there was a line out the door. The atmosphere is dark and energetic, resembling a night out on the town. I love that it is an open kitchen so you can see everybody hard at work preparing food. Something about watching someone plate a meal is so artistic to me. We decided to order the miso soup, avocado sushi, chicken karage and the udon carbonara (which was my fav.) I didn’t have any miso soup because it had fish (which I can’t eat) but Joel really enjoyed it. The avocado sushi was surprisingly flavourful! I don’t know what they did with the rice but it tasted delicious. The chicken karage came with a spicy mayo and seaweed salt. This was also super tasty! I don’t love mayo, but paired with the chicken and the salt it was really tasty! The udon carbonara was amazing! Joel described it as Japanese fettuccini alfredo. It was so flavourful and I could eat it everyday! It was SO GOOD! I also had their homemade ginger ale which was also super delightful and has inspired me to make some myself 😉 If you have a chance to check it out, I highly recommend! It’s averagely priced so I definitely think it’s worth more than what you spend! Happy eating, folks!
