Living Room Design

April 14, 2017

I made it my new years resolution to buy a couch this year, and I did it! I am honestly not sure why it took us this long to get to this point, but here we are! I am so happy because our living room is finally looking more put together, and I am excited to share it with you! I decided to combine the mid-century modern style with our more modern marble shelves. I find the combination of styles gives a fresh look to the space. I love having plants added to any space, but with cats, it’s hard to keep them living! So far they have done well. We have added in many geometric shapes into the space to give it different texture, but also to tie in a modern look with the classic geometric design of the mid-century modern era. We added extra texture by throwing in our cork bench, and having copper pipe added into the design. My favourite piece is probably our faux leather chair. In my opinion, it gives the space a perfect amount of class matched with comfort. We used a few different kinds of wood in the space to give the room more depth. I love how natural a space can look and feel with wood added to it. We added in a mirror to visually make the space seem bigger. When we first checked out this house while the previous tenant was still residing here, the living room felt so small, but it is amazing how much larger it feels now that we have finished designing it! I find that our bar cart, mixed with the geometric wall art above, just brings the two concepts of the room together perfectly. All in all I am really happy with this space. It feels like a good mixture of quality items and my own DIYs which I love. Eventually I think we will try to get a new rug, but for now I can’t get enough of it all! Let me know what you think!

I remember you telling me about the wastebasket you spray painted and turned upside down to make a table. Simple, and brilliant! And the whole room looks serene and beautiful. So I think what I’m saying is that I want to have a craft night with you, obviously.
