Mexico Mayan Riviera!

May 25, 2017

Over the May long weekend, my friend, Vicky, and I decided to head off on a girls trip to Mexico! It was a spur of the moment decision we made about 2 months back while sitting eating grilled cheese at The Next Act (a local Edmonton restaurant for those that don’t know). We both decided we wanted a break from everything to recoup and to not have to worry about anything at home. Let me tell you, it was SO worth it. We took a break from all social media and the only communication we had with back home was to confirm our pickup from the airport. It was so nice to not have to worry about being anywhere or getting anything done that I feel like this is going to be a yearly occurrence for me. I think it is so important to take mental break. Even if you can’t get as far away as we did, having a weekend to recoup on your own is so nice! I can’t even count the amount of times Vicky and I turned to each other and said “I’m so happy!”  I’m going to break this in to more than one post because I took a lot of photos! So stay tuned for more 🙂

We stayed at the Barcelo Riviera Maya and it was amazing! All inclusive so who can complain 😉 The food wasn’t anything spectacular but it got us through haha. Even from the start it was a party.. I have never seen stewardesses that were more ready to host a party then those on our flight. Our bus ride to our hotel was just as rowdy. Luckily our hotel calmed a bit 😉 The best part about the hotel was the beach! The water was the most amazing shades of blue and the sand was so soft and so clean. It was a private beach which made such a difference in my opinion. We spent most of our time just lying on the beach piña coladas in hand. I honestly have no complaints whatsoever! I hadn’t been back to Mexico since I moved to Canada from there 12 years ago! It was so great to speak Spanish again! We took one day for an excursion (but I will post about that soon!) Anyway here are a wack load of photos from our trip!
