Packing Light + Away We Go!

August 8, 2017

After an incredibly busy summer, I’m happy to say I am finally on vacation!!! It has been a long time coming and I cannot wait to be up in a plane flying across the great blue tomorrow. I have had a VERY rewarding summer this year. I was able to work with some amazingly talented youth which was truly a really inspirational thing for all involved. But now the ‘relaxation’ begins! I say ‘relaxation’ because it is going to be a whirlwind of a trip but I am really excited to take it all in! For those that don’t know, we are jet-setting away to the UK for 2 and a half weeks. I have been back to the UK since I moved back to Canada after living there and I am beyond excited. I’ve decided to not take my computer with me so I will not be posting while I am there but you can follow my Instagram for updates on our travels! Of course I will be doing a tonne of posts when I am home, but I am excited to just be away from all things ‘work’ for a few weeks because September will hit soon enough and I will be back at it again!

Packing has become something that I look forward to! I have slowly become a light packer, and each time I pack less I feel even better. I read somewhere that you should pack for the best outcome and then buy once your there for the worst. So instead of taking this, that, and the other for “just in case” situations, just buy your way out of them if you happen to get caught in one. Now of course you want to be frugal, but if it is something like an umbrella getting in the way of taking a carry-on vs. a checked bag, I think it is safe to say you can probably pick one up. We picked up some new packs at MEC along with some packing cubes at a reasonable price. I love this bag because you can open it much like a suitcase so you can have a view of the entire bag. There is also a separate pocket for dirty laundry which is great when you are backpacking. I love using packing cubes or mesh bags to separate my clothes so that everything stays together and I know exactly what I have. I also love using a pac towel when going to hostels because they are so compact and dry so fast!! If you want more tips on packing light you can see this post here.

I can’t wait to show you all our travels! Keep a look out for those posts, as well as a travel video in the near future!!
