Isle of Skye

September 13, 2017

This has to be one of my favourite places in the world. I have been here 3 times and each time it just gets better. The Isle of Skye is absolutely BREATHTAKING! It has so much to see and it just feels so home-y. Joel and I were saying we could retire there and have a little sheep farm which I would be so down with. We stayed at the Skye-Walker Hostel which I highly recommend. This was the 2nd time I stayed there. Although we had a terrible sleep because someone snored like I have never experienced before in my life (honestly it was like a wild animal was in the bed next to us!) the hostel itself is super cozy, friendly and very clean! The bathroom is so clean which is my biggest test on wether or not I’d return to a place. It is also sort of off the main road people drive so there is a lot of privacy and a great pub down the road that has great food and local beer which is never a bad thing! We drove to Dunvegan Castle which is AMAZING. You have to bite the bullet and pay for the gardens and castle because it is so worth it. The gardens are amazing and all I dreamed my garden will be one day. We then drove to Coral Beach and looked for seashells. The walk was amazing down to the water and I honestly sat up on a hill and just looked out at the ocean for 30 minutes. I have never been so at peace in my life, it was amazing. We also stopped Kilt Rock which is a beautiful waterfall of the side of the cliff that goes down into the ocean. We ended up stopping in Portree for dinner and just wandered through the little town it was very cute! Everything was closed by the time we got there but we got to see all the coloured buildings which was fun. For our second night we stayed in a hostel called Skye Backpackers. This hostel was nice, although the bathrooms were so tiny! It has a beautiful view of the Skye Bridge which was worth it though! Both times we crossed the bridge I sang the Skye Boat Song because it just fit so well. Here are some photos from Skye! If you have a chance to go, DO IT! Or come visit us when we retire there 😉
