2018: Year of Hygge

January 2, 2018

2018 just feels good. I don’t know what it is about it, but I just feel calmness in that number. Maybe because it’s an even number, or maybe it’s because 2018 is the year I tie the knot, but something just feels right. I haven’t felt this way in a long time, like everything is right and well and intentional. It’s an odd feeling but I’m going to embrace the pants off of it. I love being able to start fresh, with an open mind and heart and with the New Year that seems like a great time to do it.

Last year my resolution was to buy a couch, and I can proudly say I achieved that 😉 I also set a list of intentions for 2017. I definitely feel like I made a start on my intentions from last year but I still want to further my work there. This year is about Hygge.

Maybe you have heard of hygge before, but if you haven’t, the best definition I could find is: A quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being
It’s pronounced (HUE-gah) and it’s a Danish word that originated in Norway. Essentially it is a feeling of hominess. Of gathering. Of friendship. Of sharing memories. Of lighting candles. Of tranquility.

I feel like 2018 itself brought the hygge. It’s all things I desire in my life, and what I need to be perfectly content. So even though this year is going to be full of crazy (wedding planning, work, life in general), I’m going to be lighting candles, making forts, and gathering friends.

So here is to a year of Hygge! Join me, if you desire, because that’s what it’s all about!

Happy New Year, friends! All the best for our next trip around the sun.
Here are some failed sparkler photos 😉
